Science and Futurism with Isaac Arthur (SFIA)

Science and Futurism with Isaac Arthur (SFIA) is a science education YouTube channel exploring the future of humanity through the lens of real, grounded science.

Since its first episode in 2014, SFIA has examined topics ranging from near-term technologies to the farthest reaches of possibility. Episodes explore subjects such as megastructure engineering, interstellar travel, artificial intelligence, alien civilizations and the Fermi Paradox, space colonization, post-scarcity economics, transhumanism, and the long-term fate of life in the universe.

With over 800 long-form episodes and roughly a thousand videos overall, the channel has built a global audience of over a million subscribers.

While many of these ideas may seem exotic, the goal is always to keep discussion anchored in known science and plausible engineering—focusing not just on what might be possible, but how it might actually be achieved.

SFIA also frequently examines the practical and societal implications of future technologies, from energy and infrastructure to governance, culture, and the economics of civilization-scale projects.

At its core, the channel aims to engage curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and invite viewers to take part in an ongoing conversation about science, technology, and humanity’s long-term future.

SFIA seeks to engage others in learning and discussion about science and technology, encouraging viewers to join the conversation on Reddit, Facebook, Discord, and any of the links below.
