I'm a big fan of the show and the 200th episode on impossible things really made me think... one of my favorite games is trying to describe how impossible things might be possible. ...so yeah, I'm also a huge sci-fi fan. 99% of the time I already have the book of the month
My favorite book is actually "Guidance Withdrawal" - It's about what it means to be human and to strive to be a better person in a far future universe dominated by superintelligent minds of every possible variety and scale. Do you join a collective mind, integrate with AI, or just strive to be a better 'baseline human'?
The main reason I'm here to engage in cosmological debates. - Issac said there are facts that are not open to interpretation because they are logically true, and objecting to logic is essentially dumb. I get that, and I know the feeling, but history has taught us over and over to expect our perception of the universe to get flipped upside down at any time. We know there's some logical truth that can't possibly be reinterpreted, and then, surprise! we found out we had been looking at the evidence wrong. Don't worry, I have a high reverence for observational evidence. Any talk of time-travel or ghosts gets dumped in my 'brain in a computer' where anything is possible category. I mean, obviously I've tried to imagine some version of the universe where every current 'state' of the universe could be preserved and remains accessible, like a time landscape instead of a line, but there's essentially zero evidence so I don't give it a lot of consideration. There's even some great sci-fi that describes history as if it were locked in an extrademinsional ice-core and we could melt our way back for a time reset! At that point, a database restore operation sounds more plausible, but it's still fun.
Anyway, I know it's bad form to introduce ones self with heretical claims, but I think conservative forces are an illusion, and the natural forces will run out of power as the state of the universe changes. Crazy right? It's deeper than just the Big Rip. I really hope to find someone here who's interested in saying, 'Oh yeah, how?' - in the appropriate forum of course!
