We actually had it (Future of Education) on the schedule but I had to nix it, I think it was slotted to come out today actually, we just bumped the schedule up, or maybe next week. Hard topic to write, especially since I have 'views' on modern education and it kept spilling over into my writing, so I decided to stick it on the back burner for a while.

It is very difficult to write about the future of education even without a biased opinion. Just by examining the history of education vs a logical examination of what education "should" be is difficult enough. Historically it has been about the needs of a culture/society whether master/apprentice for blacksmiths or masons, basic mathematics for industrial era employment to "university" for first world countries. This speaks nothing of education to self existence, self dependence and sustainment, sowing, cooking, or other basic life skills.

This historical perspective seems like a few minutes of an SFIA video :) "what is education?" seems like a good start.
I just think huge virtual class rooms could be a short topic.. which is basically youtube anyway. As a side note, I joke that my children are going to "youtube college" so i wont have to pay, but the reality is that i have learned a lot from youtube - and I work in the space industry. Another topic could be education across a solar system and across the galaxy (and in transit haha). You have done governments and economies in this perspective but knowledge/education could look different if your daily tasks are needing to fight thermal or gravity concerns on a daily basis. Maybe that thought is getting too far out there - even for SFIA. :)
Anyway, i appreciate the discussion here. I look forward to SFIA every Thursday. I hope everyone is staying safe!

In the near term (next 10 years) moon industry, this is a very interesting concept. Water mining: youtu.be/t3ZnIQOmdG4
I'd be interested in thoughts from anyone in this forum!

Seems interesting to me. You talk a lot about mind augmentation etc but learning could be a cool topic to focus on. Maybe the episode could start with global internet and 1000 person classes to brain augmentation and the intelligence of all people combined. Then tie that into matrioshka brains and what do we get after that?
    Thanks,
