Im writing a script called Earth's last twilight, it's about earth using a quantum satellite array to detect an unstable star 50 light years away that will go hyper nova and grb that will hit earth. I believe quantum entanglement would allow you to read a planet, star etc chemical composition, temperature, gravitational field strength etc but if I'm wrong tell me. Basically we only have current technology other than fusion and portable quantum technology using an emulator to sim digital quality but faster. ( Had to give us something to fight back with but both techs are recently discovered and not fully intergraded yet) I'm uncertain about the issue with if it created a black hole after it exploded would earth be affected? I'm thinking the quantum tech uses a self contained ( like how batteries are) 3d printed clear plasma board layered with nano circuits and logic diamond chips and q gates with a super conductive coolant that is circulated through the circuits via a micro pump or turbine/fan type set up, it uses a type of quantum entanglement drive to communicate with other CPUs, not sure if that could be realistic for upgrading existing tech.

I'm struggling on ship and logistics designs for two reasons. I can't find enough real science about how to create a fusion type ship ( not rocket lol think mass effects Normandy sr2 in size and capability to land anywhere) I hit on this idea that under the ship could be small magnetic field thrusters to push the ships field using the same charge as the ships shields giving the illusion of repulsive lift.. any idea what kind of shield could dispense heat radiation and small impacts but act as a magnetic pillow? Not reducing mass per say but allowing lift? The second is if you're starting from basically nothing keeping in mind both techs are new and no industry yet exists for mass production and you are forced to strip mine earth? what's the best moveable space dock platform to take advantage of the bad situation? I do think they'd start space sledding as step one and use what conventional craft and fission to place what they could in orbit while to building dedicated ships meant for solar system travel only . The dock/station has to be self sufficient for 50,000 - 250,000 people as the staging area for deep space. I can't decide between a Standford torus/ o cylinder hybrid so it could be assembled in pieces or the space dock and ring type set up?

Sort of sounds like a plasma window - if there are charged particles "under" your ship, you can push on them with an electromagnetic field and they can push on whatever you're trying to repulse.
You couldn't thrust with it (well, I suppose you could, but then it's no different from a rocket) but maybe you could contain a gas "under" your ship like an air bearing.
However, I think it would have to powered with hand-wavium if you wanted to do anything more than break the last few feet of a decent.

Atomic Rockets is a pretty good resource for writers who want write realistic space fiction.
It's also pretty good at sucking away all free time for a few days.
